First Successful Lab-Grown, Innervated Gut Tissue

A major advancement in tissue regeneration, the first sample of innervated intestinal tissue has been cultivated using induced pluripotent stem cells. This tissue contains nerve endings, which is the first step in enabling regenerated tissue to complete the muscular expansions and contractions known as peristalsis that permit the intestine to complete the physical component of digestion. Read more here.
